Critical Acclaim for other productions of Who’s Holiday:
“In Matthew Lombardo’s one-woman show, Cindy Lou Who is all grown up — and she isn’t quite the adorable child you remember from Dr. Seuss’s classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Chronicling the years that have passed since Cindy caught the Grinch in her living room, Lombardo’s seventy-minute comedy, spoken entirely in rhyming couplets, is a comic tour de force.” —Carey Purcell, The Village Voice

“… a comical riot, shining with moxie-laden tastelessness and irreverence. [Cindy Lou] engages front row audience members, sings with gutsy verve and even raps a bit. After an hour of lunacy, a sweet, sentiment ending is added, sending audience members off with a warm smile and probably exhausted from laughter.” —Michael Dale, Broadway World

November 2019

Dear Friends,

We are having a GREAT 7th season at Casabuena Cultural Productions this year because of help from donors like you!

In June we produced A Casabuena Evening of Short Plays and Short Films at Allens Lane Theater. This show featured the premiere of FIVE never before screened short films we produced over the last 6 years, some dating back as far back at 2014! Eleventeen, was written and directed by Youth Company (now Company) Member Jared Taylor back in 2015 and featured performances by some fantastic Casabuena Ensemble Company Members from back in our early days! The show also showcased many of our graduating Youth Company Members, in several hilarious David Ives One-Acts, alongside our Adult Mentors! No longer Youth Company Members now, Maxwell Vlam, Angel James, Jared Taylor and Halin Hegamyer-Gershenow will be working with our new Youth Company Members as Mentors in the seasons ahead!

In August we participated in the 2019 Philadelphia 48 Hour Film Project, where we wrote and produced a short film in two days! Our Musical The Best Time of the Year was co-written by former Youth Company Members (Now Company Members) Jared Taylor and Angel James. Our film WON Best Graphics (for Youth Company Member Taj Jacob’s awesome VFX work) and Best Choreography (for our Director Eric Gershenow and Cinematographer Angel James’ work), and it was Nominated for Best Editing (Angel James) and Best Original Song for the soundtrack written by Company Members Eric Gershenow and Jared Taylor!

As we approach our final production this year in December and gear up for our exciting 2020 Season, we are asking you to consider making a donation to Casabuena Cultural Productions. We are still raising funds for our next show Who’s Holiday, starring company member Kate Bianco as a grown up Cindy Lou Who. This show will run at Allens Lane Theater and The Stagecrafters Theater December 7th, 8th and 14th. We will also be submitting some of our newly premiered films to several film festivals, so any contribution you make will go toward making these endeavors possible!

With your help we can surely make our 8th Season the best yet! Can we count on you to donate this year?

Every donation helps us continue to be able to offer the kind of experiences that prepare our Youth Company Members for performing in any creative avenue they wish to pursue, and we really appreciate your consideration and support. Donors get not only our love and gratitude, but some levels include perks like, special VIP seating, an ad libbed line in the play about you, a cameo in one of our films, and other fun things we came up with to show you how much your support means to us.

There are a couple ways to donate:

1. You can donate by credit card online at this link: https://fundraising.fracturedatlas.org/casabuena-cultural-productions

2. If you prefer, you can also donate by check. Please mail checks to Mariangela Saavedra, 121 W Duval Street, Philadelphia, PA 19144.
